Creating your custom home isn’t just about wainscot feature walls and sweeping waterfall kitchen islands (although we’ll certainly add those too!). It’s also about assessing your space to see how our renovation can improve the function of your home and enhance your daily living.

A Recent West Vancouver Renovation:

As an example of our motto that function comes hand in hand with design, let’s look at a recent home renovation in West Vancouver for a new client.

Our client (who will remain nameless for privacy reasons) wanted a solution for his basement that looked good – but also gave him extra space and storage. The space in question contained a dividing wall making it feel cramped as well as an unused, dated bathroom.

After talking through some solutions, we pitched the idea to remove the wall and gut the bathroom, opening up the entire space and giving the family more room for storage, as well as adding a custom built-in coat rack with a bench, adding wall-length shelving and also fitting new wooden floors.

After receiving the go-ahead, we made sure the reno looked pleasing to the eye with fresh paint (his choice of navy blue) but also turned it into a multifunctional area that would now be a laundry room, mud room, and welcoming entrance from the back garden. Our homeowners were super pleased with the results, and with our carpentry and renovation skills we gave the space that elevated feeling of a custom home.

A successful project in our books!

Benefits of Design and Function for a Custom Home

No matter if you’re needing a townhouse renovation, condo renovation, or single-family home renovation, everyone wants that custom home feel to create a place that feels like it’s made just for them. Here’s a couple of benefits of thinking about design and function:

1. Money Well Spent

What’s the point in having a large kitchen island but no seating? Or a gorgeous new shower but one sink for 5 children? When you work with our renovation company, Felipe will first talk with you about your needs and wants so he and his team can deliver a transformation you won’t want to change in six months’ time. The money you spend now will ultimately give you something that lasts for years to come (and will hopefully increase your property value too!).

2. Enhances Lifestyle

A home renovation can be stressful. That’s we go the extra mile to make sure whatever we’re helping you with is going to ensure you live well after we’re gone. We all spend a lot of time in our homes, especially with the pandemic, which is why it’s important to make sure everything has a place and a purpose. We want to help you improve your kitchen layouts for more counter space, add space to your guest bedrooms for family and friends, build custom storage for all your belongings and install better fixtures around your home.

 3. Smarter Decisions

When you renovate with aesthetics and function in mind, it means you can be smart with your decisions. We’ll give you expert advice you need on things like the most durable countertops, waterproof flooring, hard-wearing tiles or board size for your outside decks. This way we can turn your vision and needs into a custom home you’ll love.
